Want this too?

308 people want Cable TV providers to offer a la carte channels.

We don't want to buy bundled packages! Music used to make you pay for a whole album just to get the song you wanted, but the MP3 player changed that forever (for the better)! Why can't cable providers understand that we just want to be able to buy just the channels we want and not pay a whole bunch of money for a whole bunch of channels we don't watch! It's the 2000s, wake up cable providers!

We see a sea change.
As the TV and the internet continue to merge, what is to keep television studios from providing their own al la carte or individual sit-com options for a fee? Can TV Studio provide their own "cable/satellite" thru your TV/phone/ipad/computer and leave cable/satellite behind?

You can go ahead and take away all the "bonus" sports channels for me. I only watch my Packers, and they're on local channels.

Although I receive over 200 channels, there are only about 12 that I normally watch. I grew up when TV was free. Having to pay almost $70 a month to watch stations trying to sell me something, repeats of shows, shows shown on 10 channels simultaneously, etc. stinks!

We only watch sports, home decorating and history channels,,,so why do we have to pay for others too? Started a plan 3 plus years ago w/cable, phone and internet for 99.00 a month. One notice after another with rate increases. We really like the cable company, do not need all that they offer us. When will the solutions arrive?

I watch about a dozen channels, yet get 250. I don't watch sports, so those channels don't help. About 50 are trying to sell me something I don't want or need, and another 50 are duplicate programming. If I try to cut my satellite bill, I lose 20% of the channels I do watch. I remember when TV was free. Why do I have to pay close to $100 a month to watch it now?

SERIOUSLY!!! I did without TV for more than half of my life, now there are very few things worth watching so why do i have to be saddle with all the other stuff that i have to wade thru like sludge to get to something worthy!

I quite cable all together and just use Netflix, Hulu and station websites. No I don't get to watch all the new shows when they are new. But I only pay $25 a month for all the TV viewing our family wants. But I do miss the cooking channel and home decorating channels. You can show the cable company your opinions by taking away your dollars until they get it. When enough people are willing to do that, they will be willing to listen. Until then, good luck!

I WOULD LOVE TO PAY FOR ONLY THE CHANNELS I WATCH. WHY DO I NEED ALL THE PAID PROGRAMMING, DOUBLE CHANNELS FOR THE SAME PROGRAMS?? I REALLY WATCH ONLY ABOUT 15-20 CHANNELS. PUT IT ON YOUR CARD THAT YOU INSERT IN YOUR SYSTEM AND YOU ARE SET.

Okay, time to raise our collective voices and be heard! If we make enough noise, we can make it happen. We should not be forced to pay for channels we dont watch.... Lets make a difference and change the way this company does business.....

I totally agree. I pay a lot of money for my Dish satellite but watch only a fraction of what is available to me. Yet there are other channels I would like that are not available on my plan. I refuse to spend even more money for channels I won't watch just to get a couple more that I would watch!!!

Wouldn't it be great to have just the channels you would watch. I have a basic package just to get local channels so I have some idea what is occurring in my community, I have started to use my computer more and more to watch information on world events as you can get an unbaised coverage especially news from countries other than USA. Maybe it's too much to want TV providers to offer programs and channels to provide entertainment or information/education. Instead we are offered packages that contain channels that are purely advertisements and infomercials. I think soon I will discontinue my service as the Tv is mostly being used to watch DVD's now. No need to keep TV connected to a satelite provider.

My peeve is when your provider claims they have over (insert number here) of channels in HD...it doesn't matter if they aren't providing the channels I want.

I totally agree with this ask. There is no reason I should have to pay for all the extra Spanish and sports channels offered to me on my package, as I don't know spanish and don't watch sports (just 2 examples). There are other channels I would to get instead that are not offered.

I used to live in the country with one of the big satellite dishes out back, we could choose channels a la carte, pay by the month or year, or create our own bundles. That was really a nice option, we could pick and choose exactly what we wanted and what we wanted to keep out of our home!

Absolutely my first choice!! I have been dreaming about this option for years!!
I hate paying for channels that I have NEVER watched!, government channels, sports channels, etc.
I am also sick of soft porn girly shows as well-who cares!!!

Yes, this is my number one choice in changes. We have not had a TV in over 15 years because I refuse to watch or have the trash that is on in front of my children (who are grown up now) but now I have grandchildren. I want quality programs without trashy commercials that tell little girls that they have to be a certain size and look like trash. I want religious channels and good shows for my grandchildren until then NO TV for us.

I agree wholeheartedly with this idea! I've been asking for it for years! The cable co. I used to have (Time-Warner) told me that it isn't just them who selects what we get for our $$$$. The City you live in is also responsible, apparently! At the time, there were about 15-17 public access channels. Except for PBS, I would never watch the City Council meeting, School board meetings, etc., or "people acting like idiots", etc, channel!!!! And, at that time, one of our City Council members wanted MORE public access channels! Yet in another town 10 miles away, the SAME cable co. did not force people to get nearly as man of these channels!!! Maybe 3 or 4!!!! So check w/the people who run your city who "let" the cable company do business in your town - let them know what you want or don't want also!!! Tks bunches for this site!

Oh, to be able to actually pay for ONLY the programming I want! I would be ecstatic! What are the cable/satellite companies afraid of? That they'll actually have to offer quality programs and series to keep us paying?

I'd love to be able to pick and choose what stations to purchase. I do watch some cable shows online, but it'd be nice to have them readily available on TV too.

We have one cable movie bundle we purchased a year ago that had fewer R rated movies. Now it's like all of the others with very few PG movies anymore. Love this ask.

Have you tried iTunes TV rentals? Similar idea but it's on the show level, not the station level.
