Want this too?
10 people want Pandora to changing their voting system so we can stack votes w/in our own personal count in order to show song and band preferences.
I propose a new voting paradigm: Stacking unary voting.
It's similar to regular unary voting (Google's +1, Facebook's Like, Twitter's RT (which is already compatible this), Pandora's thumbs up), except you can vote multiple times on the same item. After the first vote, each additional vote is not counted in the grand total but it is counted in your personal total.
Benefits: Our preferences evolve over time. Keeping track of recent stacked votes can help us differentiate things we once liked but don't care about anymore from things that we really like and continue to actively like.
With this data, we can generate various new rankings like number of personal votes, most recently re-voted, time delta from first vote to most recent vote, etc. People can organically develop their own voting schemes by impulsively liking things as they see them as much as they want.
Scenario 1: A song comes up on Pandora that I already upvoted, and I'm reminded how much I love it. I want to upvote it again and I want Pandora to keep a count of how many times I've upvoted the same thing (even if they don't weigh it internally).
Scenario 2: A post comes up on Reddit that I really like, I want to upvote it 5 times to sort it appropriately within my personal ranking system of liked posts. I don't care if the author actually gets +5 karma or not.
Scenario 3: A tweet comes along that I already RT'd last week. It made me laugh again, so I RT it again. This already works.
Bonus points if I can optionally attach a note with each vote (also natively supported by RT).
