9 people want to Abolish The Department of Education.
There are tens of thousands of employees in the Department of Education that did not exist before Jimmy Carter, and student performance has only fallen off since the 1970's. Billion$ of dollars have been lost in the department with nothing to show for it. The cost of buildings and supplies alone are hundreds of millions of dollars a year. That money could go directly to school and students where they are needed.
If the Department of Education was removed, it would presumably save enough money so that no school program would need to be cut or lost.
This country had NO Department of Education for hundreds of years. It's creation was one of the worst decisions any president has made. It was strictly a political decision. We spend more and more money, we get less and less results out of our youth. Please, totally remove this department and save our schools.
(Or at least downsize The Department of Education to a small group that has a goal...to oversee Principals of each school.)

Or, we can think about it this way....
Why would we take dollars out of the hands of the people from a state...to the feds...only to give that money back for educational costs? The simple through is, any amount of money that goes to Washington comes back in half. That's not a very good exchange rate to say the least.
