I'm a new customer to Scrapbook.com and I have made 3 purchases. However, I'm very discouraged by their outrageous international shipping. Currently, there are 2 items in my cart totaling $3.98 US and international shipping to Canada costs $24.43 US. Clearly something needs to change...

For any Canadian online shoppers, this is good to know:
According to the Canada Border Services Agency, "Under the provisions of the Postal Imports Remission Order, if someone mails you an item worth CAN$20 or less, you don’t have to pay duty or taxes on the item."

tale/duty-droits-eng.html

I have even ordered many items for less than $20 USD (before shipping) and I never paid taxes/duties.

If we want change, then we need to email Scrapbook.com and tell them why we're not shopping from their site.

I think the main question should be why doesn't scrapbook.com work from the same principle as other online stores - ie: arrange with UPS/USPS for corporate style rates. The USPS flat rate boxes offered to everyday citizens are far cheaper than the pricing through scrapbook.com.

Ebay (Australia) has recently joined with AustPost and included flat rate postage for Ebay sellers here (for both domestic and international postage) so surely it can't be that hard and I'm sure scrapbook.com would have just as many crafting customers as Ebay.

Another Aussie here who buys from other U.S. sites although scrapbook. com is the only one I am member of so I would much prefer to do all my shopping there, except that the postage is way more than other sites.

I agree with Gayle when the postage is equal to or more expensive that the item purchased I have to question whether I really need it or can I get a substitute in Australia.

I can order the exact same items from the other big site for approx $20 less postage to Australia. I would love to order more items, more regularly but can't justify $60 + postage for a few flat, light weight inexpensive items.

There are a lot of items I would regularly purchase from there as I love the site, but find the shipping costs way too much. When I buy from ebay the shipping is half or third the costs from there.

It's because of brokerage fees. I'm not sure why Scrapbook.com uses a broker and other American companies I order from don't, but I agree with Lynn. I would order a LOT more from there if it was reasonable shipping. It costs me $25 shipping just to order a pack of brads, lol, PLUS duty and brokerage fees =( And I'm only in Canada, lol

I would order much more from your store if my shipping and handling and duty were cheaper. You would think with Canada being neighbors with the US it would be cheaper, but when my shipping and duty comes to almost the same amount as my order, unless I absolutely can't find it anywhere else I don't buy it here, and I love your online store, has a huge selection.

And the postal service to come up with a 12 x 12 option for shipping flat rate!

I would certainly order much more frequently if postage rates to France were more reasonable.
